Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and a cool Yule  to y’all  from the  Bernhisel family on the south side of the Alafia river.
It is exciting to be writing my traditional missive to you again this year! I know that your mailboxes  are on red alert  with the letters of  so many proud moms and dads.
Julee and I have now been back in our Riverview home for the past six months. After coming home from our mission in Raleigh, North Carolina, we vowed never to move again. However, we are now going back to Bountiful, Utah and I will be working at my alma mater, the University of Utah's School  of Medicine. We also lost both mom and dad Bernhisel (87 and 92 years) this year.
We love our home here in Florida and will keep it unoccupied so that we can visit periodically. Our kids are scattered to the four winds along with our 18  (going on 19) grandchildren. Our two motley adopted cats  and  our two odiferous Basset hounds are ministering angels in the heavens for animals. Even our crazy cardinal, Jennifer, who constantly and jealously attacked her own  reflected image in our bedroom window, has taken off  and deserted us for celestial realms.
We are often asked the question, “how are you adjusting to not being a mission president and companion”?  It is a hard question  to answer as we loved our missionaries and our work there in the mission field.  I don't think that  loving people and helping to lift them  ever is a  responsibility that's taken from us,  nor would we want it taken from us.
Here's a brief rundown on the kids:
Heidi and Tyler Rex  are in  Seneca, South Carolina  with  their four wonderful children, Mckenzie,  Savannah, Christian  and Jackson.
Preston  and Karee Bernhisel are in  Carrollton Texas, close to  Dallas, with their  four superb children, Cole, Carter, Caroline and Cambelle.
Brooke and  Mike and their outstanding children  Leila, Andee,  Ethan  and Brooklyn  recently moved to Centerville, Utah which is  very close to where we will be living In Bountiful.
Lyndi and Kevin Ballard  and their very superior children  Annie, Rhet and Elsie (“Putt-Putt”)   live in Acworth Georgia, northeast of Atlanta.
Jenny Leigh and Lance Pendleton  and their wonderful,  superb, outstanding and superior children  David, Gavin  and Millie (JLBP paid  me the most :-)) live in Kingswood,  outside of Houston Texas. We are expecting our 19th grandchild  from  Jenny Leigh  this May.
Julee is doing great.  She is  the kind, loving  and generous person that she always has been. She has been especially patient with my adventures, including my recent trip with my brother-in-law Ryan and niece Brylee,  to Nepal, trekking up to the Everest base camp.
We hope that y’all’s  families, children and grandchildren are doing wonderfully. We appreciate each and every one of you. I especially appreciate the love and grace of our Savior, whose birth we celebrate.  He is the light and life of all the world and we love Him dearly.
Have a Merry Christmas and the best of New Years.

Marc and Julee Bernhisel
